The wooden model depicts the Roman synagogue, located adjacent to the Marble Court and parallel to the main marble street of ancient Sardis. It is the largest synagogue known from antiquity and features lavish floor mosaics, colorful marble wall panels, carved decorative reliefs, and inscriptions in Greek and Hebrew, all of which attest to the wealth and stature of the Jewish community in late Roman Sardis.
