Mark Fusco's always been goal focused about things, finding that when he got to his goal he had to take off towards somewhere else. Playing in the NHL, he found professional hockey boring, since it gave him a lot of free time and nothing to talk about. Before the Salt Lake City games, the US hadn't won a gold in bobsledding since 1956. Watching his teammates and good friends win it on TV, Jim Herberich was so excited he immediately put his kid on the floor to celebrate . Initially, he had planned on being the race director in Salt Lake City, but he had retired. He did get to help prepare for the games at Salt Lake, a city that had never heard of bobsledding before. He also got to work as a judge in the preliminaries and give tours to bobsledding officials. But once he had made his decision not to compete, he never looked back.
