Olympic skater Paul Wylie shares his experiences at the '92 games at Albertville, where the Olympic "village " was spread out over a hundred miles. Despite the physical separation though, he was still able to cheer on the other Americans after he had finished his events. Due to the large distances separating the games, he remembers the opening and closing ceremonies were especially exciting when everybody got together. In his spare time, he loved to meet and trade pins with athletes, both from U.S. and other countries. He remembers fondly that at the winter Olympics, which are lower-key than the summer games, every athlete was approachable; he was even able to meet the Jamaican bobsled team.
