Prof. Dani Rodrik introduces this panel, "The
World Trade Organization: Can It Still Do Its Job?," calling the
title "highly relevant" in a time when the effectiveness, efficacy,
desirability, and relevance of the World Trade Organization (WTO) is
being questioned. The American Economic Review recently published an
article indicating that the WTO had absolutely no effect on the body
of world trade. According to Prof. Rodrick, this line of questioning
raises many issues that the panelists will begin to address.
