Gillian Bentley is a Royal Society Research Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at University College London. As a
reproductive ecologist, Bentley has worked with a number of populations in central Africa, Bangladesh, the United States, and the United
Kingdom in an effort to understand why ovarian hormones vary significantly among different groups, looking at factors such as nutrition
and energy expenditure.
Bentley presents research findings from an ongoing case study of Bangladeshi migrants to London. She focuses on
transgenerational reproductive health and its interpretation from biological and social perspectives.
Bentley explains that reproductive hormone levels can be related to many aspects of health during and after a woman's
reproductive career.
