Donna Lopiano: Women's Sports Foundation
Donna Lopiano is the executive director of the Women's Sports Foundation.
Lopiano talks about the remarkable entrepreneurial efforts of Billie Jean King, who in 1974, at the age of 28 and at the peak of her career, founded the Women's Sports Foundation, started the Women's Tennis Association, defeated Bobby Riggs in a much-publicized "battle of the sexes,” and started Women's Sports Magazine. The Women's Sports Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a $6.5 million budget, produces educational materials, awards grants, attempts to advocate and elevate public consciousness for girl's sports, and promotes the achievements of women in sports.
