Taran Swan: Business Development at Nickelodeon
Taran Swan, former executive vice president of Nickelodeon, talks about her career at Nickelodeon. Starting in business development at Nickelodeon, Swan was instrumental in launching the Nickelodeon brand in Germany and Latin America. Later, following the birth of a child, she returned to the United States to direct the development of Nickelodeon's online division. After beginning her career as a computer programmer for Bell Labs, Swan worked on Wall Street in sales and trading. Desiring a more thorough business education, Swan attended Harvard Business School, after which she worked at the Walt Disney Company and at Viacom for the Nickelodeon brand. Swan speaks about Nickelodeon's balance of social activism with their need for financial solvency.
