Audience Question and Answer
Question 1: Carol's comment about policy makers, "When they get what they want, do they know what they get?" resonated with me. What can scholars like yourselves do to educate policy makers when they are designing policies, to know what the consequences might be if [their policies] are in fact enacted?

Question 2: When I hear these discussions, my mind's occupied with anecdotal evidence that I have of two examples of success, people beating the odds [and succeeding without] economic resources. I'm trying to reconcile what I'm hearing about how difficult it is to make it [without benefits, compared to the success achieved by] people who didn't even have welfare.
